UPT Armor Upgrades
This article is intended to explain some of the common upgrades purchased with United Shield International (USI’s) UPT Armor System. Please reference this guide prior to completing the agency pre-order survey. Please contact us directly if there are any questions or clarification is needed on UPT upgrades.
Cummerbund Closure Type
Standard Hook & Loop
This is the standard closure for a UPT cummerbund. Like many other plate carriers, this is hook & loop, commonly called Velcro. This requires the wearer to lift the front cummerbund flap to don and doff the carrier. There is no additional charge for this option
Aspetto Quick Release Clip Closure
The Aspetto Quick Release Clip is an affordable, dependable option for a quick release system. Please watch the video below for details. There is an additional charge for this option
AustriAlpine/COBRA Buckle Closure
The COBRA buckle is a metal buckle with a patented locking mechanism. This buckle is commonly seen in manufacturing in duty belts and riggers belts. This buckle is extremely durable. Due to the construction, this buckle can make donning and doffing your carrier a bit more difficult than the Aspetto Clip. There is an additional charge for this option
Cummerbund Upgrade
Standard Cummerbund
This option is a standard MOLLE or Slick cummerbund. There are no interior pockets that line the cummerbund (minus the armor pocket). There is no additional charge for this option
Cummerbund Upgrade
This option adds interior pockets, and elastic cord retention to the cummerbund. These pockets can be used to hold radios, rifle magazines, medical kits, skittles, whatever you need. Click on the pictures below to see more. There is an additional charge for this option
Additional Upgrades
UPT Moody Zipper
This option adds a zipper insert to the UPT admin pouch (reference picture on the right). Without this upgrade the admin pouch is secured by hook & loop, and is a bit more difficult ot effectively use it as an admin pouch, There is an additional charge for this option
Easy Open Pockets (EOPs)
This option adds a pull tab to the kangaroo pouch on the front cummerbund flap of the UPT. Without this, the pouch is closed by hook & loop, so storing any additional equipment in there is difficult. See picture to the right. There is an additional charge for this option.
